first day on the new drug —
sucked.
i was agitated all day and i’m completely demoralized.
i know i have to give it time — but the additional side effects i felt today were barely tolerable.
at times it was all i could do to keep from screaming and running away.
it had better get better, and soon.

it is temporary – i know a few people on Lamictal (one for siezure activity, two for depression). i am told that the adjustment period is a bear. 10-14 days & you should be more relaxed & less prone to insomnia. hang in there…

Guys —
Thank you, but there’s no flushing to be done. I simply added Lamictal to the mix. It’s adding to and amplifying the existing effects.
I hope it’s only temporary.

I’ve seen what paxil weaning alone can do to people. You’re doing damn good, all considered.
I agree with melissa about the water thing. Flush as much of the old stuff out of your system. If you do get seriously dehydrated, pedialyte helps more than water. It gets your electrolytes back in balance faster and you don’t have to whizz every 30 minutes to stay hydrated. It gets sucked through your stomach lining and you usually feel a bit more balanced.
Although I can’t speak from experience, you should spoil yourself. Read good books, take long baths. Or walks. Just treat yourself well. It’s better to be miserable in a warm bubble bath than slumped afront a computer screen.
I don’t know if you can take anything like tea, but lavender insence or oil (the real extract, not the perfumed fake crap) mixed with chamomile might help calm you down.
And to end it, I have a question… What is is that causes withdrawl? Is it your body trying to process something that’s not there or the lack of said thing that causes an imbalance… or both?

Hey,
keep in mind there’s a two week adjustment period to any of these drugs, not to mention adjusting to NOTY TAKING the old ones, so you’re doing a remarkable job. when I weened off the Paxil, I started feeling pity for heroine addicts, my brain chemistry was so fucked. I also got seriously dehydrated, so I don’t know if drinking more water may help your body adjust. I know elethero (siberian ginseng) is good for stresses on body and soul. Hang in there! (I’ll be at Speak with bells on. See you then.)
