One Moment

A shaft of light,
no more than
half an inch wide,
in broken sequence
of lighter
and darker spots,
laid diagonally
across a polished
wooden floor:
that’s all there is to see.
That’s all.
And I put down my head
with closed eyes
and think about it
until one of us
passes away.
