One Stinking Word

Call him what he is —

not a polite name, not
a political name;

not a
name according to the polls,
not a name sliced and diced
by those who like to tiptoe;

not a word for those
of slavish devotion
to what they think it means
and what lies shallow
within them;

not a word
used by those who fawn and scrape
for table scraps filled with insult;

not a word for those unthinking
who keep to the “alright Jack,
no flies on me, ain’t none
of my business” clueless saga;

not a word from those who sit
in chairs, arms folded, mouths
sealed tight as a fist, waiting to
approve of some fool concept;

not a word for the shrugging rich,
not a word for the insane burghers
of industry;

not one word for
the vendors of burnt meat, of
fat free cheese, of old bread;

not one word for foreign girls,
of blonde pneumatic women
in good apparent standing,
of faceless whitey white men —

no,
there is one small butcher of a word
for him, and that word
no one wants to claim
is evil.
