Blank Screen Reverie

To sit
with a blank screen
and feel forced —

not exactly
of course but close enough —

to fill it with something
fanciful or profound or
just prosaic —

to present
this world, my world
as being worthy of consideration
to anyone who picks it up —

all I can do
is sit with it
and let it take
its sweet or sour time
until I am more or less satisfied
or else can sit with it
and say
until next time
or maybe
(if there is no next time to be had
since the sudden closing of the gate
is always a possibility) —

until I can sit here and say
it is finished

until then
I must wait and see
what spills out
what comes before I go

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
onward,
