Struggle for no reason
except to become joyful
or at least to take away reasons
for pain. Strive to become
less stress-filled, if that’s become
possible for you now; strive
to open your eyes and turn off
this well-stirred path for an hour
or more; it will be worth it —
promise has been made,
promise to be kept.
When light fades out, dims
in outdoors; when noise
covers song from outdoors —
when no sparrows or swallows chirp
and raccoons stop their scolding
seldom-voiced in daylight; this is when
you close your left eye and then your right
and leave chatter behind, even
for a second, a piece of a second.
In a place with no noise
you can become free.
In that place you are already free —
you know it, you know it within;
hold on ot it; perhaps
it will grow for a while; perhaps
it will end up being a part of you:
maybe, maybe…
