For the Chicago Nationals last year, PSI had applied for an NEA grant and received $30,000. “But this year they just . . .forgot. Slipped their minds,” explains Stephanie Williams, the Marketing Director for Word in Motion.
they did not forget.
an NEA grant is not something they just give you year after year. Chicago worked hard to get the one-time grant. STL could have/should have gone after their own grants & funding.
they have been tossing all of the blame at everyone except themselves.
what it comes down to (for me)is this…
*PSI should have kept a closer eye on exactly what STL was doing/not doing
*STL should have been more honest about their troubles & accepted help when it was offered. (& it was offered a few times)
*STL needs to admit that they screwed up & offer suggestions on how PSI & host cities can avoid things like this from happening again.
yes, PSI made mistakes, but 95% of this mess falls on STL & the only ones who don’t see that are STL. i have talked with a lot of people about this & i have yet to find someone who thinks this was not STL’s fault.
