For what they offered, though, it’s pretty close.

So: later edit. Thank you, insomnia…
Missed in the quiz:
Jazz: Which would have included high influence from Ornette Coleman, Anthony Braxton, Thelonius Monk.
Folk: Also high influence. Ani, John Gorka, Joni, Bill Morrissey, Leo Kottke, John Fahey, Nick Cave. I suppose Richard Thompson might fall here as well.
Old School Blues: Where the hell are the Blues?! Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, Freddie King, Hubert Sumlin, Blind Blake.
Also — When I think of my rap influence, I wouldn’t say it was high; I also missed groups like Public Enemy, BDP, Disposable Heroes, etc.
Signing off for the night (again), I remain,
T

that’s the wooooooorst quiz. i was being “strict” and only checking bands i REALLY like, so i checked:
The Cure.
Depeche Mode.
Dr. Dre.
that’s IT. and then i didn’t even get the return of “mostly Britpop” that i expected, tho the obvious result is like “The Streets” or something.

I didn’t know you were a Who fan! We should chat. My favorite band. First concert ever, back in 1973, complete with a collapse on stage by the Mooner.

Yep. It’s the “for what they offered” that’s key. Completely, 100% agree with their standings for what they had, but I don’t think my musical tastes would be complete without a little Aretha, a little Mr. Cash and a big helping of the Who.

Thinking of the high influence of punk…I just bought that book by Joe Meno, Hairstyles of the Damned, and it’s pretty decent. Just an aside.
