mind you not any news channels, but still, when something like this happens
in richer communities there are news breaks and ongoing commentary (not that I condone that). However, here it is…what? two days later?…and I just got some peripheral information about it on the radio (npr late last night) and LJ (today).
So, sadly, yes, it will get ignored in my opinion.
I think it is a combo of complacency and a poor brown community that the media forgot a LONG time before this happened.
However, there are people like you, and me and all the people who have spoken here…and beyond…who do care. Maybe it’s not enough but it is at least what it is…a faction of Americans who give a shit.
I had to send children to school yesterday and today. Yeah, I give a shit.
What I can’t imagine is that there are parents out there who would see this on the news or see the headline and just gleam it as if it happened on another planet.
