I’m really not sure what to say about this, as I didn’t like the movie despite the presence of Bowie.
In general, science fiction, speculative fiction, fantasy, horror movies, supernatural thrillers in any medium simply do nothing for me, with rare exceptions. This was not one of them.

Books: Some Roger Zelazny. Harlan Ellison. I read a lot of Lovecraft when I was living in Providence, more out of self defense than anything.
I read Tolkien obsessively as a kid, haven’t touched them in years, haven’t seen the movies.
On the other hand, I love Garcia Marquez. Gunter Grass.
I think I like stuff that transcends genre.
