Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy, can I come over after school? (after school)
We can hang around by the pool (hang by the pool)
Did your mom get back from her business trip? (business trip)
Is she there, or is she trying to give me the slip? (give me the slip)
You know, I’m not the little boy that I used to be
I’m all grown up now, baby can’t you see
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
She’s all I want and I’ve waited for so long
Stacy, can’t you see you’re just not the girl for me
I know it might be wrong but I’m in love with Stacy’s mom
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy, do you remember when I mowed your lawn? (mowed your lawn)
Your mom came out with just a towel on (towel on)
I could tell she liked me from the way she stared (the way she stared)
And the way she said, “You missed a spot over there” (a spot over there)
And I know that you think it’s just a fantasy
But since your dad walked out, your mom could use a guy like me
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
She’s all I want, and I’ve waited so long
Stacy, can’t you see you’re just not the girl for me
I know it might be wrong,

mostly the Jason & the Scorchers version =) the problem w/ the JDenver version is that the production is dated – it screams 1970s. it’s a much nicer song w/o all that vaseline on the lens…

Have to give John Denver his props. “I’m Sorry” is still a gorgeous heart-breaking song. Still for my “perfect pop song” monet, I’ll take “Do You Believe In Magic” by the Lovin’ Spoonful. A celebration of love, pop music, magic, and the ever-resurrecting moment when you meet someone that makes your heart go boom. all that, a conscise guitar solo, and a bag o’ chips.

Yes, that is a good song. For the past several weeks I’ve been listening to a 70s pop internet radio station at work and they love to play John Denver, so I’ve heard that song quite a bit lately.

i think john denver gets unfairly slagged on from time to time.
“country roads” is also good. i don’t like “thank god i’m a country boy though. i worked as a country music dj in the late 80’s and john denver had some other stuff that was getting into what might be considered adult comtemporary jazz for lack of a more lame description.
however, that early 70’s era of country music with mac davis, tanya tucker, charlie pride, charlie rich, early willie and waylon are pretty sweet musically. as with the late 60’s stylings of loretta lynne and tammy wynette.
have you heard the loretta lynne/jack white produced “van leer rose?”. top notch.

He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin’ home to a place he’d never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door
When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hangin’ by a song
But the string’s already broken and he doesn’t really care
It keeps changin’ fast and it don’t last for long
But the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky Mountain high (high Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high Colorado)
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say he got crazy once, and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky Mountain high (high Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high Colorado)
Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
I know he’d be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky Mountain high
It’s a Colorado Rocky Mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody’s high
Rocky Mountain high (high Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high Colorado)
Rocky Mountain high (high Colorado) Rocky Mountain high do de do

“Stacy’s Mom”
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
Stacy, can I come over after school?
But since your dad walked out, your mom could use a guy like me
Stacy’s mom has got it goin’ on
She’s all I want, and I’ve waited so long
Stacy, can’t you see you’re just not the girl for me
I know it might be wrong,
but I’m in love with Stacy’s mom

the eagle and the hawk
gorgeous lyrics, bad wardrobe, go figure
but my favorite is “the eagle and the hawk”
“I am the eagle
I live in high country
in rocky cathedrals
that reach to the sky
I am the hawk
and there is blood on my
feathers
but time is still turning
they soon will be dry
and all those who see me
and all who believe me
share in the freedom i feel
when i fly
come dance with
the west wind
and touch on
the mountaintop
sail over canyons
and up to the stars
and reach for the
heavens
and hope for the
future
and all that we
can be
and not what we
are”
peace

mostly the Jason & the Scorchers version – the problem w/ the JDenver version is that it positively screms 1970s atcha. it’s a pretty great song w/o all that vaseline on the lens…

john (good singer, bad pilot) denver
Have to give John Denver his props. “I’m Sorry” is still a gorgeous heart-breaking song. Still for my “perfect pop song” monet, I’ll take “Do You Believe In Magic” by the Lovin’ Spoonful. A celebration of love, pop music, magic, and the ever-resurrecting moment when you meet someone that makes your heart go boom. all that, a conscise guitar solo, and a bag o’ chips.
goddamnright.

Yes, that is a good song. For the past several weeks I’ve been listening to a 70s pop internet radio station at work and they love to play John Denver, so I’ve heard that song quite a bit lately.

i like that song as well
i think john denver gets unfairly slagged on from time to time.
“country roads” is also good. i don’t like “thank god i’m a country boy though. i worked as a country music dj in the late 80’s and john denver had some other stuff that was getting into what might be considered adult comtemporary jazz for lack of a more lame description.
however, that early 70’s era of country music with mac davis, tanya tucker, charlie pride, charlie rich, early willie and waylon are pretty sweet musically. as with the late 60’s stylings of loretta lynne and tammy wynette.
have you heard the loretta lynne/jack white produced “van leer rose?”. top notch.

“country roads” is also good. i don’t like “thank god i’m a country boy though. i worked as a country music dj in the late 80’s and john denver had some other stuff that was getting into what might be considered adult comtemporary jazz for lack of a more lame description.
however, that early 70’s era of country music with mac davis, tanya tucker, charlie pride, charlie rich, early willie and waylon are pretty sweet musically. as with the late 60’s stylings of loretta lynne and tammy wynette.
have you heard the loretta lynne/jack white produced “van leer rose?”. top notch.

Damn You.
