New poem.
Something’s stirring, straining,
coming up from underneath
where it’s been held.
You claim
you want to help free it but
first you have to consider
and then choose
the perfect tool for the job.
Is it the screwdriver? The hammer?
The blowtorch? Is there really something to be said for simply
blowing it up and starting over? What loosens best
that which has been bound so tightly for so long
the whole house groans when it twitches? It’s all
so complicated,
or so you say.
