America, why
aren’t we ashamed
to look out the window
and find the same scene
this morning
as we do every morning?
How is it that we slept
all night,
resting up for the future,
and woke up to see
driveways and homes
much as they always are — why
aren’t we ashamed
that when we look out
the window
this country’s morning
does not resemble
a scene
from Brazil
or Turkey?

Tony, I couldn’t agree more with the sentiment of your poem! America is sleep walking into its own nightmare! Where is the free press in the States now? It certainly does not bear the face of ‘Fox News’ or ‘CNN’ for that matter! They are a disgrace to true journalism! And if the American people do not do as you advise in your poem, and “‘wake up”, the police state that their silence and naivety has given birth to will only tighten around their necks in the near future.
See the mandatory requirements for all US citizens from March 2013. I refer to the ugly appendage attached to Obama’s health care package (a very good thing in of itself) which requires every American citizen from March 2013 to subject themselves to a short medical procedure— the implanting of an RFID (Radio Frequency Implant Device into their hand—or their head! This is being done in the name of “security” and supposedly paves the way for easier treatments by medical staff in case of illness (the subject’s medical history—and, wait for it—their banking details etc) — will be held in this chip. This is, indeed, the stuff of Orwellian nightmares!
Anyway, Tony, keep singing and keep shouting, for social justice!
Cheers, CC Cairns
