OMFG…New Pieces on Myspace!!!! (Now with Tech notes, for the studio-inclined among you)

The mastering’s done, and here you go…

three new pieces up on Myspace from the new CD.

They are:

Americanized (the title cut)
Las Lloronas
Where Do You Live?

I’m amazed and grateful to both Faro and Chris (a_solitaryman) for this gift.

Stuff was recorded at Loyal Weasel Studios, better known as “my living room.” Recorded in two sessions on September 15 and 22; all but “Americanized” are from the second session.

For those interested in the tech stuff: Chris, our producer, did it all on a Tascam 8-track digital recorder, burning it and mixing it down on the recorder’s internal hard drive over the last couple of days. I’m shocked at how good the sound is, and incredibly grateful.

The first album we did (the last cut on the Myspace page, “Do You Know What It Means” is from that album) was recorded at Faro’s house using an old digital 4-track which I then remixed and processed on my Powerbook using Garageband and Audacity software. It also came out pretty well, considering I’d never done anything like that before. Having an independent producer is the way to go, though; it allowed us to concentrate on the work while Chris handled the sound.

He recorded Faro direct, miked me with a nice little Shure.

Faro plays Schecter and Washburn 5-string electrics, and a couple of different nylon string guitars with internal pickups.

You won’t believe the full CD…and the show on the 6th will be off the hook, as the kids say these days.

For reference sake, the show is an extended meditation on what it means to be American…how we internalize all the contradictory messages we receive and how we struggle to maintain in the face of the way we live.

I’m so happy I could cry.
