Back home, exhausted…

and happy.

DC rocked in its own quirky way — I’ve had the same experience there twice, that I don’t know during the feature how it’s going because the crowd is relatively quiet, but I do know immediately afterward because I get mobbed by people wanting to talk and buy books. A great time.

The set list was a mix of brand-new never read out loud before poems and some older stuff:

Meta
Getting Ahead
Where Do You Live? (aka “Yumiko’s Hands” or “that origami poem”)
Political Art
Music For Funerals
Revisiting Roses and Violets
From a Chicago Garage
Discovering Fire
Mission Statement (aka “when the hell is he gonna stop doing that one?”)

It was fun. I didn’t tell the room there were three premieres in the mix.

Thanks, DC.

Of course, being as I was in DC I missed the Worcester iWPS finals…Congrats to myainsel for kicking butt and taking names old school style….

“Roadie.” Starring Meat Loaf and Debbie Harry.

Mr. Loaf, as the NY Times calls him, played one of Harry’s roadies in the movie. He was walking across Times Square in this exaggerated cowboy/trucker walk, wearing a pink tour jacket and huge cowboy hat.

Trying to impress my girlfriend at the time, and having not a clue as to who it was or that it was a movie scene, I followed behind him aping his walk the whole way.

As we got closer to the other sidewalk I could hear the director yelling, “Get that kid outta there!!!!”

Loafie-boy tuned around when he got to the other side and glared at me. Needless to say, I was in shock when I realized who I’d been mocking. (Eh, not really.)

Further trivial note: we hung around to watch more of the shoot and my poor mother, who didn’t have a clue as to all these people were, is actually in one of the crowd shots.

    Re: I’m really curious…

The third one is the lie.

I was a PI in RI in the very Early Eighties for a short time. Boring as hell. I let my license lapse ages ago.

As for the second one…the star was a rock star who is better known these days as an actor. The female actor who was the lead in this movie is a rock star as well.

The scene I disrupted was in Times Square.

The movie was filmed in the late Seventies.

    Any guesses?
