Self-Actualization

Ugh — What is it, and
why does it
try to move?

It’s a failure,
and it doesn’t know that yet
so it’s making an effort.

Perhaps
we should kill it before
it damages something?

No; let it
wriggle.  It will be
our cautionary tale.

Isn’t that
a type of success?
What if it realizes that?

Ah, it’s far enough gone
that it won’t matter if it does —
even better, it will break its heart

before it dies completely
to know it had such an impact, to know
that we will talk about it

once it’s gone,
but only for a short time
and not kindly.
