Talking To Castles

did you, walls and all,
grow up here on your own?
none of you castles look built.
you seem more carved, or
cultivated. natural part of the world.

maybe that’s a tell that we,
also, were grown to be
the colonizers of war homes,
the warriors who make fortifications
live, symbiotes within the halls.

maybe this species is made,
irresistibly, to kill.
