Lego My Ego

It’s got a lot of pieces —

and it never looks like the picture on the box
when I’m done;

I build a lot of things
and sometimes am inordinately proud
of what I’ve created,

but more often,
I end up screeching my frustration
at the vague resemblance.

Lego my Ego!

is the battle cry
as I blame the Manufacturer
for my failure, or rather
for my creating what I could
from what I had;

it doesn’t look right.
And I swear someone gave me
those fucking Duplo blocks
instead of what I deserved
to work with.
